Any one of us can make a difference, and together our impact will have the biggest ripple effect. Volunteer Appreciation Week reminds us of that simple truth, and the fact that we all have a role to play in building and maintaining an equitable, resilient community to be proud of.
At United Way, we are fortunate to have volunteers and partners that feel the same. Thank you to all of our volunteers proving that we can recover and rebuild after the challenges of the past year, as long as we work together. We are grateful for your work and commitment this week and every week.
MidAmerican Energy is one company that embodies the spirit of volunteerism. Eric Westphall, Business Account Manager at MidAmerican, believes so much in volunteerism, he serves as one of the company’s Campaign Ambassadors for their annual workplace giving campaign, helping to bring resources to United Way-funded solutions. To Eric, volunteering is part of MidAmerican’s mission.
“At MidAmerican Energy Company ‘obsessively, relentlessly, at your service’ is more than just a tagline … it is in our DNA,” he said. “Through our corporate citizenship program, CARES, we reinvest in the communities we serve with financial resources and employee engagement and volunteerism.
“We recognize that when our communities are strong, we are strong. To have vibrant growing communities, companies need to come alongside and lead the way. We know when we partner with United Way we can make an impact while creating a sustainable future.”
