Emerging Leader’s Think Like A Futurist is a 6-month program delivered by Economist and Futurist Rebecca Ryan. Through your participation in 6 four-hour modules of high-level learning on how to lead with a futuristic mindset, participants will complete the course equipped to think, plan, lead and execute in innovative ways. Think Like A Futurist is limited to just 30 participants.

Please note, sessions begin at 8 a.m. and are three hours in duration each. Participants must be able to commit to attending all sessions, which include:

Aug. 8, 2024; Sept. 12, 2024; Oct. 10, 2024; Nov. 7, 2024; Jan. 9, 2025; Feb. 13, 2025

What You'll Learn:

  • Strategic Foresight: Gain insights into emerging economic, social and technological trends that could impact your industry and community.
  • Innovation Strategies: Learn frameworks and approaches to cultivate a culture of innovation within your organization, enabling proactive responses to change.
  • Scenario Planning: Develop skills in scenario planning to prepare for various future scenarios and make informed decisions amidst uncertainty.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Understand how to use data and analytics to inform strategic decisions and optimize resource allocation.
  • Community Impact: Explore ways to leverage your organization’s strengths to contribute positively to community resilience and development.
  • Collaborative Networking: Connect with peers, nonprofit leaders and community stakeholders to explore collaborative opportunities and shared goals.
  1. Strategic Foresight: Creating future-ready organizations.
  2. How Futurists Think: Understanding differences in thinking concepts, and uncovering strengths and areas for development in four “super forecasting” competencies.
  3. Sensing: Uncovering the techniques for sensing.
  4. Red Teaming: Using rigorous questioning and unconventional thinking to bust biases and look at the future without getting burdened by the past.
  5. Bringing it All Together: Learn and practice basic techniques to gain buy-in from clients and leaders.
  6. Your Next 10 Plays: Cross the bridge and know what you need to do tomorrow, next week and next month.

Cost:

Payment is not needed until participants have been notified of their selection. Once notified, payment is needed by July 29.

  • $1,000 for Emerging Leaders members
  • $1,500 for nonmembers
  • Scholarships are available for those interested. Please indicate your interest in the application.
