‘The Pitch’ by United Way

Saturday, May 8, 2020 | 7-8 p.m. (Virtual)

Social change to move Quad Cities students forward starts with “The Pitch.”

Tune into KWQC on Saturday, May 8th, from 7 to 8 PM. It will be a night of big ideas and game-changing investments you don’t want to miss.

Four competitors, drawing from the area’s social entrepreneurs, will pitch their bold ideas to strengthen education outcomes in the Quad Cities to a televised audience (that’s you!) and panel of esteemed judges as they compete for $100,000 in funding. Plus, YOU will help decide who wins cash by voting for the Audience Choice Award — presented live!

Presenting event partners include KWQC-TV6, Quad City Times, Dispatch Argus and Women United, with program support from the Regional Development Authority and CoSpero Consulting.

THE COMPETITORS

  • Teresa Babers (Love Girls Magazine)
  • Jerry Jones (Martin Luther King Center)
  • Christina Conklin (Moline Library) + Misi Birdsall (Project NOW) in a collaborative pitch
  • Jeff Cornelius (Two Rivers YMCA)
These competitors have spent the past three months in United Way’s Together for Tomorrow social innovation program — as part of a problem-solving cohort started in response to the impact of COVID-19.
Tune into KWQC and read The Quad-City Times and Dispatch-Argus leading up to the event for feature stories on the insights and solutions.
