Maximize your tax benefits.

Each year United Way helps hundreds of local families prepare their income taxes, free of charge, with our Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) program.

Trained volunteers will prepare taxes for FREE for Quad Citizens with a household income of $64,000 or less — and make sure you receive all tax credits you are eligible for including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC).

In the past three years, VITA & AARP tax aide have helped return about $12 Million to families & individual filers in the area.

African American women helping a man and a woman prepare their taxes.

Join VITA as a volunteer.

Volunteers from the community are needed to help prepare basic, current year tax returns for eligible taxpayers free of charge.

In addition to tax preparers, volunteers are needed for intake and review. Mandatory training and certification is required.

Community-led tax support.

The Quad Cities VITA Coalition is led by United Way Quad Cities, in collaboration with AARP of Western Illinois and AARP of Eastern Iowa.

Thank you to our volunteers and host sites for allowing us to offer this much in-demand service.

United Way also thanks tax filers for respecting and following health and safety guidelines as posted by tax preparation sites to prevent the spread of illness.
