Operation Read

Operation Read takes place at NINE different after school sitesand two preschool sites in the Quad Cities. Volunteers visit the sites each week and read books to children as well as engage them in creative activities related to the books. At the end of each month, school age children choose a new book to keep. Children are surveyed at the beginning of the year and then again at the end to gauge their interest in reading. The program, now completing its fourth full year, has shown significantly more children listing reading as one of their three favorite activities in post-tests.
