United Way is doing something about it.
United Way funds programs that serve more than 97,000 individuals with low or moderate incomes. They provide a variety of services including meals, shelter, food vouchers, counseling and daycare.
In addition, we serve 2,800 individuals through our capacity building grants and over 540 families as a result of the generosity of The Hubbell-Waterman Foundation.
We also run initiatives designed to help break the cycle of poverty for children like the Pohlmann Program, which gives free age-appropriate books to over 800 children who participate in the River Bend Foodbank's backpack program.
