United Way
Day of Action - June 21, 2011

Join over 1 million volunteers nationwide during the 2011 Day of Action. We are asking Quad Citians to volunteer as mentors and readers in our community. Whether it's volunteering a few hours or several hours a month, volunteers can change lives.

Mentor Opportunities
In just one year, Achieve Quad Cities has impacted over 2,600 students' lives, and some of the students who benefitted had mentors working closely with them giving the support they need to graduate. One of those students used to feel isolated but now he is motivated for his future because of his experiences with his mentor. To sign up to be a mentor, visit achieveqc.org.

Volunteer Reader Opportunities
Volunteer readers help build a strong foundation for children's lives by participating in Operation READ, an initiative where volunteers read a book to children and then engage them in a creative, book-related activity. Children surveyed before and after the program showed an increased interest in reading. To sign up to be a volunteer reader, email Karrie Abbott at kabbott@unitedwayqc.org or call 563-344-0330.

Thank you for all you do to Live United!
