Welcome to 10,000 Hours Quad Cities! This exciting new program is a great way for youth to change the QC area.

10KQC is a year-round effort to engage young people in volunteer service with a great reward - a free concert for which the admission is 10 or more volunteer hours to local nonprofits. Already established at schools like University of Iowa, Iowa State University, Drake University and University of Wisconsin-Madison, the program makes a direct impact in the area through the service of future community leaders and citizens. Additionally, it has brought bands like Guster, Cake, Jack's Mannequin and OkGo! to thousands of fans who volunteer.

It is being produced locally through a partnership of students from area high schools and colleges. United Way of the Quad Cities Area supplies advice and support to these volunteer organizations. They engage in a huge peer-to-peer volunteer outreach campaign to recruit new volunteers and recognize existing ones, and they raise the money and support necessary to create a premier concert. Driven by young people, 10KQC is a powerful community building effort at the same time it is a vibrant learning experience.

The mission of The 10,000 Hours Show nationally is to mobilize young people to meet immediate community needs and recognize those who do, helping develop the next generation of active community leaders.

The idea is simple... You volunteer a minimum of 10 hours with a local non-profit or community organization. Log your hours and then you get a ticket to our April 18, 2009 concert. Finally, you ROCK!

We are looking for student volunteers throughout the Quad Cities to start now! See the Sign-Up page to learn how to get involved.
